The David Moody Memorial Scholarship

David Moody was a beloved Theatre Productions teacher at Brentwood High School and a dedicated set designer and builder who brought more than 30 years of creativity, craftsmanship, and mentorship to countless productions. Whether he was teaching students how to safely operate power tools or constructing intricate custom set pieces, David found joy in every part of the process—and in every student he guided along the way.

David unexpectedly passed away on Christmas Day in 2024. In honor of his legacy and the profound impact he made on students and the theatre education community, this scholarship was established to continue his mission of supporting young theatre artists.

Throughout his career, David worked alongside his wife, Lisa, to bring numerous productions to the Tennessee Thespian Conference, both in Memphis and Murfreesboro. To honor that legacy, the Tennessee Thespian Board is proud to offer two $500 scholarships each year to schools selected to perform at ThesCon. These scholarships are intended to help offset the costs of bringing a show to conference, ensuring more students can experience the magic and growth that comes from sharing their work on that stage.
